We aim to engage stakeholders and the community to see where we stand with sustainability topics and actions across the board (including with post-Covid in mind – ie, did it move the dial at all, or, have we gone backwards?). This is meant to be a global, regional and local discussion, but since we are here, we can discuss on views of why (and if), HK is falling behind others. We also have a new plan for ESG engagement, as there is a lot of talk about it, but mostly it is “reporting related,” which loses the interest and touch of the communities those companies serve and the communities they reside in. This new program is called “3 in 1”, and can whether ESG promotion and adherence, although well intended, actually prohibits any really positive initiatives.
It is our hope to engage stake holders in new ways, particularly to encourage brands to be part of these discussions and to show off (hopefully) some good things that they have done (for others to hopefully follow their lead on). Questions would also be asked what is preventing real change in terms of environmental actions and sustainability, and what might be preventing larger scale changes or ‘buy in.’ This is where we suggest our “3 in 1 for ESG Initiative” and hope to have a panel discussion/networking event on it at some point this spring.
